Schedule approval records, 1988-[ongoing].

In 1987, a Local Government Records Commission was created to replace the County Records Commission. The Local Government Records Commission is "charged with the responsiblity of determining which county, municipal, and other local government records shall be permanently preserved because of historical value and which county, municipal, and other local government records may be destroyed or otherwise disposed of after they have been microfilmed." (Ala. Acts, 658, p. [1987]). As support staff for the Local Government Records Commission, the Records Management Division personnel maintain the files of the Commission. This series consists of schedule approval records signed by the Commission for schedules approved for implementation. Each record must be signed by a quorum of the twelve Commission members for the schedules to be approved. Information on the schedule approval records includes the date of the meeting, the schedule numbers approved, and the signatures of the Commission members. The record also limits the time period during which the schedule may be implemented.
